Independent home project planning for Northwest Arkansas

Concrete / Northwest Arkansas

What does a concrete driveway cost in NWA?

Use square footage for a starting budget, then look closely at preparation, removal, thickness, and finish.

Reviewed September 2026 · 5 minute read

One Fayetteville area concrete contractor cites $6 to $15 per square foot as a typical installed concrete driveway range. For a simple 20 × 24 foot driveway, 480 square feet multiplied by that range gives a rough $2,880 to $7,200 planning budget. That is a math example, not a bid.

Simple area estimate$6–$15 per sq. ft.

Multiply length × width in feet to get square footage. Actual scope and site conditions can change the rate.

What changes the quote?

  • Groundwork: grading, drainage, compaction, and the depth and type of base material.
  • Removal: breaking up and hauling away an old driveway can be priced separately.
  • Concrete specification: thickness, reinforcement, mix, joints, and finishing details.
  • Access and design: slopes, curves, difficult truck access, decorative color or stamping, and connecting to existing pavement.

A local contractor's published guide also notes soil and freeze-thaw considerations in Northwest Arkansas. Ask bidders how they will prepare the base and place joints for your specific site.

Compare the same scope

Send every contractor the same approximate dimensions and site photos, then request a written scope. Ask them to itemize removal and disposal, preparation, concrete thickness, reinforcement, finish, joints, drainage adjustments, cleanup, and any warranty. A square foot rate alone does not tell you which work is included.

Five useful questions for a concrete bid

  1. Does the price include removal and haul-off of existing concrete?
  2. What base preparation, slab thickness, reinforcement, and joint layout are specified?
  3. How will water drain away from the garage and home?
  4. Are permits or work in the public right of way involved, and who handles them?
  5. What is the schedule, payment plan, and process for written change orders?

Before hiring, check the contractor's license status and confirm any permit needs with the city or county where the property sits.
